[QUOTE="JWL, post: 7112035, member: 47116"] Yes accidents happen, I've split logs since a boy but a few years ago I was chopping a few for the camp fire in a field in deepest Wales with no alcohol on my side involved I managed to bury the axe in my shin. A knotty piece and I'd taken a stronger swing and it decided to split out sideways and the axe kept going. The others called an ambulance, I was just going to see to it myself but it was taken out of my hands and when the ambulance turned up there was only the driver/paramedic who had a quick look after cutting the leg of my new trousers, bugger. The medic was on his own as it was the start of the London Olympics and his mate was covering elsewhere. The long and short of it was that I had to go to Wrexham A&E but he couldn't take me and at 9pm on a Sunday it turned out that I was the only one who hadn't been drinking! One of my mates volunteered as he'd only had a couple of cans so I had a half drunk woman holding my leg in her lap as he did the 35mile trip to the hospital whilst the rest of my friends kept an eye on my boys in our tent. The only saving grace was that my ex-wife lived in Wrexham and she dropped everything to come and help me at the hospital and then run me back to the campsite. The amount of grief I've had from all my so called mates for years afterwards even down to taking my knives and forks away from me when we've got together for meals and the like and given me plastic cutlery!
