NEW Blending Facility Now Open at ABP Immingham Thomas Bell are the UK’s largest independent fertiliser importer and the opening of the new blending plant will now allow Thomas Bell to create bespoke fertiliser blends and increase their range of products it can offer to the market place. The state of the art plant, which opened in February this year includes the latest precision measurement technology alongside a multi hopper conveyor system; this ensures that each bag produced contains the exact analysis required for the specific blend. The plant also boasts a double screening system to ensure optimum product quality and consistency throughout the year. All blends are oil coated to provide a dust-free and free flowing product, assisting shelf-life and spread ability. The operation is run completely undercover with 400,000 sq ft of dedicated facilities; the bulk straights are kept in entirely separate bunkers before being weighed via individual hoppers onto a conveyor system. Once blended, the finished product is then bagged and stored fully undercover to ensure maximum quality regardless of weather conditions. All bags are loaded onto lorries undercover. The recent investment will compliment Thomas Bell’s existing activities at Immingham where they will continue to import Pulan and Lithan Ammonium Nitrate, Granular and Prilled Urea, MOP and various other fertiliser grades. Managing Director of Thomas Bell, Andrew Major said: “This investment in additional infrastructure will complement our existing activities at Immingham, boost production capability and maintain our reputation for ‘port to farm’ excellence. We have become the UK’s largest independent fertiliser importer on the back of our customer service and those values will remain in place’’ For more information on the operations and products, please visit Thomas Bell at The Cereals Event on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th June on plot 746.
