4-day week this week, all joy for some, all chocolate for others! Not the best time to have a 4-day week though, weather is dry, ground is good, new drainer is faster than me on my mobility scooter and the phone is ringing off the hook!! The job at Burton Green is going very well, early reports are that the new 15/15 drainer is chomping through it faster than a Panda in a bamboo forest. The 160mm single wall land drain is not wanting to play ball though so a little coaxing is needed to get it down the layer but other than this all is well. The headwalls are in and with the wee bit of rain we have had this week are starting to run water. The lads brought me a back a present, well a horseshoe drain to be exact. These had been in for around 40 years and were still running by all accounts. Its also a great example of why they were called “horseshoe drains”. Although still running in the main, they needed replacing due to the works going on alongside the field we are in, bit of a train track causing a wee bit of havoc! I owe Alex and his team from BJT an apology as last week I forgot to thank them for keeping us supplied with stone, without it we would not have even been able to start the works at Burton Green. With things as they are at the moment we are grateful for the supply. Cheers Alex 😊 The lads also thank you for the chocolate as well. They were unsure at first where it had come from so there was a sigh of relief after I told them it was you. . . . didn’t stop them eating it before they knew where it came from though!! They nearly didn’t get any it was only by the grace of God that King Kev found it and not Dilly-Bob. Being the good egg that Kev is, he told everyone that he found some chocolate. On about Dilly-Bob, I don’t know how he has managed it, especially with being on site all week, but I filled the biccy tin up on Monday and he has managed to eat his way through all the plain biscuits to get to the chocolate. . . . the man is a monster!! Been a great week lads, thanks for all the graft and the giggle. Easter weekend is upon us so have a good one, don’t eat the kids eggs and see you all on Tuesday when Aunty is promising more dry warmer weather, till then stay safe and stay smiley 😊
