    Groundswell a bit pricey?

No, the idea was to use the Trinity carbon and natural capital calculator, but nothing much has come of it. I am nothing to do with GFC now, BTW.

GFC was to go ahead - now not going ahead

I had the misfortune to get into a one to one conversation with the Tacon woman about a year ago. She proceded to tell me how amazing she was, having climed the greasy pole, getting all these high powerd jobs dispite the disadvantage of not being a man. Then she started on about some ignorant...

Got BLACK GRASS? Then, I need your help...

@Northantsplants what size BG plants do you want, most are out of the top of the crops now but your reply email say small plants. I have some at tillering stage in a late drilled spring crop which may be more suitable.

Continuous barley; to bale or not to bale?

I have been amazed to not find any blackgrass in my Sensation barley this year. I hadn't realised it could have a better allelopathic effect than other varieties.

Average yield 4 tons an acre in 1980!

More than half the farming families round came from either Scotland, Lancashire or Yorkshire, mostly between the wars when land was literally dirt cheap. John's farm had a dairy herd for many years until he went all arable, (as did nearly every farm round here), and so he was basically using up...

Average yield 4 tons an acre in 1980!

It was all ploughed, or heavy disced followed by a deep subsoiler.

    Calcifert (S) settings for Bogbale

I spoke to David but he's never heard of fertiliser this heavy and there are no charts that come near. He gave me a rough strength number to use but I won't know till I try it because of flow characteristics.

    Calcifert (S) settings for Bogbale

Yes, it gives those values so I've put them in the app and it's come up with flow number of 24.8. Will try that in the morning and do a flow test. Thanks all.

    Calcifert (S) settings for Bogbale

Thanks @stevedave, I've just had a look, it gives PTO speeds and vane settings etc but nothing on calibration. Yes @nick... that's what I will have to do, but will have to rig up my own way of catching the fert coming of the discs, I don't have the proper kit. Just thought it might be easier if...

    Calcifert (S) settings for Bogbale

Anyone spread Calcifert with a KRM Bogbale disc spreader, mine's an M2. Charts have never heard of anything weighing 1.36kgs/litre. I'm really after the flow figure to put into the Calibrator Uniq control box but don't mind guessing to get a start. I assume the heavier the fert, the higher the...

    Supersoil?

If you rounded up all the bacteria from a hectare of healthy soil and put them over a weighbridge, there would be between 5 and 8 tonnes, so according Prof Curtis, innoculation needs to be at least 500 KGs of actual bacteria. So what is the recommended application rate for this Supersoil...

    Gravity seperator/seed dressing

@grainboy Did you sell this or is it sitting in the back of a shed somewhere? Thanks

    Andrew Ward's Drill Demo Day

Yes but His heavy land is heavier than your heavy land Your heavy land is heavier than my heavy land My heavy land is heavier than his heavy land There's always an excuse.

Please teach me about direct drills

You already have a Sim-tech direct drill at Harpenden, it's been doing DD trials for about 3 years now.

    Red Tractor lies

I do not have a knapsack sprayer. I don't have a slug problem so don't have a pelleter. I don't have blackgrass so no need for Avadex, (that old boom spreader at the back of the shed hasn't moved for years). All the dates you require are on this printed out spread sheet, (the dates are all...

    Has anyone stripped undessicated linseed?

Always surprising how much gets pulled up and goes through the combine. If it's not a bright sunny day, I still get wrapping round the header auger so just go home.

    Has anyone stripped undessicated linseed?

Yes, stripped mine two years ago with no descant. no problem at all. No way it would have worked last year but with this years early, dry and hot harvest, it is what I am doing again. Mine is a seed crop this year so should be perfect.
