TB test went well, 102 cattle in 2 3/4 hours. The Vet was most impressed with dad's big lazy South Devon bull who just stood there and let her get on with it

As Dad's getting too old to play with cattle He'd called in help and I was the only male out of 6 of us doing the job!

Off to Tuckwells to collect the new conditioner drive sprocket for the mower (splines stripped last week when the chain harrows went through it ) then back home and more erecting grain bins.

Finished up checking nosy cattle

Then a quick bit of shearing by @Mrs Holwell although we don't have sheep

How do you get on with that crush @holwellcourtfarm ? Do the calves try to go thorough the rails?

Haven't had any problem yet with that. I intend to add a steel sheet to the bottom fail on each side to tuck inside the base up keep cattle's feet inside and avoid calf issues. I bodge up the replacement rails to include a rump bar system as well. We're very pleased with it though. It's an IAE Crusader. It was a show special at LAMMA 2015 - £1400 including delivery and full fit trimming kit.

The new Crusader Plus looks to have sorted the issues I've addressed myself.

A good basic value crush.

Pouring down here this morning, worst rain in 3 weeks. If it keeps on the concrete will be wet by lunchtime (just to wind @Gator and the Lancashire lads up)

More seriously we could do with some rain soon or we'll be getting short of grass.

Roll on a pipeline to drain Lancashire to here ;)

Had 13mm in the rain gauge this morning, grass a plenty round here.

Just had to stop pulling up tramlines in rape stubble.dry and hard underneath and wet and slippy on top means no traction.hopefully dry up later and carry on.
