Try plant hire yards - a lot of them hire plates, might sell one or tell you where to buy from .

Thick enough to support a tractor.
Either 6x3 or 8x4
Holes in all corners

8x4 x20 mm plate would cost £221 at £550 per ton from steel stockholder

Had a phone round yesterday - one company wanted £320 for 8x4x20, another (hire) company wanted more than that. Think I'll likely go with Nixon above if delivery is reasonable.

How is the steel price currently? Gone up quite a bit this year from what i remember...

my laser cutting guy wanted 370 8f x 4f x 20mm with 4 25mm holes cut and rounded corners
and i need to make a profit on top

hollow sections (tube and box) up by£100 per ton by feb in 2 or 3 goes,£40/£50 per ton gone on this month on other sections
