Biomass Log/woodchip drying

He will do it for nothing as it allows them to earn an income from the RHi while it is drying ;). Without that the rhi will stop as the boiler wont have anything to do

Doubt it as electricity, fuel, insurance, service costs on top of paying for the boiler will set a base.

Is it money from EU or ?
We have not that subsidys.
Have hear about that, its stupid!

I think it's paid for by The British public, get charged a small fee on every energy bill to cover it.

The purpose of the RHI was to reduce carbon emissions and from where I am standing, it's working. At what cost can be debated for ever however!

It's actually better for the environment as it reduces road miles as fuel isn't transported around the country if grown and dried on site where it will be used ;-)

But there is no reason why the same wood cant be felled and stacked under cover which will not use any fuel or electricity to dry it and will not require any subsidies for Rhi

Well yes but surely this is a supply thing as well?

They don't want acres of stacked timber waiting for 12 months in the yards costing them £££ when they can dry it (getting paid in the process) amd sell on quickly meaning they don't have as much £££ tied up in stock?

The company who have asked us to dry their chip (using straw) seem to be shifting so much chip they can't dry it fast enough to keep up with demand.

The 'blame' if there is any, should surely go to the creators of RHI who IMHO haven't done their sums in a) realising the UK don't have enough timber to self supply and b) making the rule in such a way that this can be done.

Those getting paid to dry timber are doing nothing 'wrong' AFAIK

Go to Sweden and see how it can be done!
There is plenty of powerplants that heats cities with woodchips and tear down woodhouse chips. And without dry the chips befor.
