Got a few acres going into spring barley for harvest 2018 and then 'probably' into Winter OSR in autumn 2018. At the minute it's 1st wheat stubble straw removed.
We've got some canary grass, linseed and mustard knocking around and the ability to no Till them all in with a tined drill.
The soil can grow ryegrass which is becoming a real pain so should be no till the cover in and then no till the spring barley in?
No compaction issues as it was subsoiled last year in ideal conditions and we wouldn't be thinking about planting the barley till April 18.
Should we stale seedbed now and the spray in a few weeks and then plant the cover crop then or now or not bother as it's not a good mix? Not interested in buying new cc seed as I'm very unconvinced of cc benefits having tried them before but willing to give it ago again with what we've already got to use.
