Bobby Douglas used repo boards won the Scottish, British and European with them but I have no idea who made them. I think he bought four at the time with another local plougher getting the other pair and he could never get them to work properly. I have two pairs that are not the same shape and neither of them are the same as shape as genuine. I had some seconds an thirds with one set of repos the other ones never got a shine on them always looked dull. There you go as clear as mud and not helpful at all!

Yes the pair I have that won't shine came from west lake about ten years ago along with a pair of tcn's that are the same both plough perfectly fine but just don't put that finishing touch on the furrs you get with genuine. I have no idea who was making them for him and he may have changed supplier since. If you can try and find a genuine pair you know for sure what you are getting then

Chapmans Steel form Sheffield make repro boards, YL, TCN and other makes like IHC ACE, and fergy

and before you go and google it, you need deep pockets, as only will do a run of 150 at a time, and min order is 150 of all the same, not a mix

Finding genuine from what I have heard is getting hard and buying them is another thing, I'll have to just do as best I can on a budget.

I think I'll have to see if someone else orders the 150

Used them for years, no bother whatsoever. Swapped to some over priced over rated YL183 Kristeels last season, still getting use to them. To be honest, don't think its made any difference, apart from my bank balance! Everyone tells me they'll be much better, so we'll wait and see! The positive comments people tell me are stiffer, better wearing, scour better, less chance of it sticking.... all good, but I never had any issues before.

You can still get genuine YLs if you keep your eyes open. I bought a four furrow a few weeks back for under £150 and have salvaged what will be three very good boards after a lot of effort. My experience of non genuine was disastrous They stuck like hell, never really shone and two furrows pulled like three. I well believe that some are better than others but you take your chance.
Michael Armitage had a pair of Westlake and swore by them when the conditions were right but often had to swap them for genuine boards when conditions caused them to stick. They had been bent to give extra twist, something which is not easy to do on genuine boards and is strictly speaking illegal I would have thought..

I was speaking to a guy yesterday with an old 4 furrow with yl's he is looking £800 and he thinks the boards 'might' clean up, under £150 is maybe a chance in a million.

It sat on ebay for a week with a very few bids in total. One board was unusually worn because the leg was well bent. My previous purchase about a year ago was for a three furrow, also on ebay, delivered to Norfolk from Gloucestershire, all inclusive for £160. Don`t always look for the obvious because YLs were used on a huge range of ploughs over a long period. Watch for buy it now offers which are well under priced and seize the opportunity.

To be fair a set of repos I have could do to be re shaped as they have a fair bit less twist than genuine

The excuse was that the reproduction ones were copied from the last manufactured boards available for a TS90 which were slightly different.
I have somewhere kicking about a 165 Fromm a PM3 which has a lot more turn on it than 183's fitted to 59's
