Sheep feeding !!

use to feed spuds to our cows 30 years ago
loved um ,only thing cows would play with um in there mouth and get one stuck
cant remember if the sheep had them as well

feeding a lot at present , they arnt palatable so to start getting the first few to feed is often a challenge , will need chopping really to start (garden shredder?) , also need to feed gradually like corn and build up , as they will get squits, to much to quick , found the best way to get them eating them is feeding a few carrots to start , Good energy though (starch) but needs a protein as compliment .All depends on price though .

ps , shoots / leaves and green ones toxic in larger quantitys

I used to feed them in the 1970s, also to cattle. Never had any problems with getting stock to eat them (after the first year of course they have seen it all before) but totally agree that they need to be introduced gradually. I found that feeding decent hay with them helped the digestive system.
