It's illegal for them to hit your wheel nuts with a hammer or physically touch it without consent or a court order for your specific vehicle and trailer. Otherwise it's victimisation and criminal damage and the fella with the hammer can be arrested no quibble. What a QC told me recently.

Really??
Y'mean that my waiting for an hour or so beside the road a few years back wasn't mandatory?
There wasn't anything wrongly wrong with the outfit, and the Inspector was polite and amusing tapping away v contentedly, but I did miss an appointment as a consequence.
Mind you, the appointment wasn't as interesting as what I learned from him. Good fun when you come across somebody who tells all by saying very little.

I think this is highly unlikely- if true every transport company in the country would refuse to be inspected at the roadside!

I also think that hitting your nuts with a hammer would be classed as "cruel & unusual punishment"

Just ask to see the indate calibration certificate for the hammer usually throws them
