Ouch! Good job of temporary repair.Hopefully will heal ok and return to lactation in due course.Damn cows. Dried last half a dozen off today of this year as short on space in milking shed. This ones done a 17 month lactation and 18500l. Goes out field for a break. Clears sheep netting, 2 strands of barb and a solid hedge and is back in the yard with huge trail of blood down the road before I get there.
Punctured a blood vessel in her udder so emergency first aid.
Put them out, they look so happy out in the field they say.......3 bloody minutes...... that’s how much they love it in the field.

It's going really well thank you. Cows are all dry or very close, could do with a shower, no different to the house chaps.
Not being in dairying for decades could be more of an advantage than not.
Same here. Both 6 days early but a nice pair of heifers. More bagging up now so there goes my early finishes!
Some great pics @bigw
I feel a little guilty posting pictures of green grass though.
What are you doing feed wise buying in? Currently buying Maize silage here and scratching head for winter...Some of us have posted enough pictures of cows out Dec/Jan/Feb so it's only fair really.
My cows aren't even going to have any docks to nibble next round because even they're dying back now.

I'll never be quite as scathing about cocksfoot any more, it's the last green thing on the farm.

Sounds good about a month ago I thought this would all blow over it would have rained by now and every thing would be fine...oh to be young and foolish it’s looking little more serious now Maize 47/ton hay easy 150 grains 45-50 etc did I mention running high stocking rate...Lots of cake, lots of PKE and a bit of silage. I've done 90ac whole crop and bough a lot of hay.
I've always scraped through before and I will again this time somehow.
Wait till this years maize averages only 8ton acreSounds good about a month ago I thought this would all blow over it would have rained by now and every thing would be fine...oh to be young and foolish it’s looking little more serious now Maize 47/ton hay easy 150 grains 45-50 etc did I mention running high stocking rate...
