Pig Muck

Pig muck from a small scale pig setup. Sows farrowing and 6-70% of the offspring taken on to slaugther

What are the rules with this sometimes rather pungent product? Bury or incorporate withing a set timescale? If no regs, can it be spread on grassland (not that i am keen on that personally!)

Anything one should be aware of?

I'm a bit 'fond' of it, certainly compared to bird muck!!

The downwind neighbours are not happy when the first strong sun of spring dries our mucky ground out however and despite our free range nature it's all in the air for a few weeks!

I was told that if it is straw based, classed as FYM so do not have to incorporate. we incorporate ours and can still smell it.
you could always give it a light disc at least you have shown willing.

supposed to make the grass grow well. however would avoid hot weather. i have not been brave enough with our muck as yet.

That was what I kind of assumed  I'll avoid any unless I have a stubble waiting. Thanks.(y)

If you are spreading on grassland be aware that pig muck is high in copper which may cause issues for sheep if spread regularly. Never had issues here over thirty years but majority was ploughed under arable crops. Sometimes grazed sheep on stubble turnips without Ill effect.
It is very good for growth regulator sales unless you like combining flat crops.:D
