Didn't know whether to put this here or in Off Topic, but since she is farming I'll post it here:-

Has anyone been watching this on Channel 4? (Series ended last night)
I was wondering if anyone on here knew Hannah Jackson, a shepherdess from Cumbria? Did REALLY well throughout & I was very disappointed for her not to have made the winning post, despite having survived the interrogation. What a young girl! She should be very proud of the way she conducted herself throughout a hugely difficult few weeks.(y)(y) I just wish my son knew her!! What a catch she'll be for some lucky bloke.
Some very impressive people (plus a few dicks obviously ) on this series esp. for me the women, though for as a decidedly ordinary mortal I don't know if I'd fancy having an SAS trained wife:nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:

Lives not far away, excellent ambassador for our industry. Started from Liverpool I think until she got a farm around here. Don’t know her myself, but I heard her boyfriend is in the army so possibly give her a few useful tips.

Great series, I have enjoyed the previous ones too.

I agree, I thought she would make it, but it can depend how it was edited, as to what you see.

Those guys in the "brotherhood" really are made of different stuff...

Great series.thought the midwife was going to win but they broke her.the staff and competitors are the best of the best
Nick...
Yeah I thought she was going to walk it tbh but the doctor was a tough cookie also. Do you think there is a bit of handicapping going on though, I can’t see how some of those 9 stone lasses could hump the same Bergen as far as some of those muscle bound guys tbh

Hannah's lovely (y) her boyfriend is a fitness trainer for the red arrows or something like that.
Not seen the last couple of episodes but good on her for giving it a go. Not for me that's for certain!

I'm quite sure the whole thing is run over a single week.

I also enjoyed the show and I'm sure the people who make it to the end are tougher than average. But I did spend a lot of time explaining to my Mrs that this is in no way equivalent to SAS selection. Not even a tiny bit close. In fact I'd say it isn't even as hard as typical Army basic training. I'm sure most on the show are fit enough but keeping going for your first 10 weeks is psychologically much tougher than pushing on for a week IMO.

As for the women: well unless standards are dramatically lowered then there won't be any women in the SAS anytime soon. There are other tough courses that have been available to women for a decade or more. P Coy and the Commando course for example. 2 or 3 women have passed the Commando course and none have passed P Coy. Both are much easier than SAS selection.

I don’t do heights...

....that’s me out..(and I’m too old).:nailbiting::dead:

It was a good series,I was quite concerned when one group tried to evade capture in a dangerous ravine, that could have ended badly for everyone.
I suspect there was an off-camera intervention that helped them change their mind where to go. Capture was inevitable anyway.

A great series, the antidote to "Love Island" / "I'm a celebrity" / "Big Brother" (y)

True, Royal Marine training is 32 weeks long (the longest infantry training in NATO), with an 80% drop out rate.

The SAS series was filmed over 12 days including 1 day off.

Some women can & will make the grade, my sister in law was a Capt. in the USMC and she is hard as nails.

Yes. I read her biography. Amazing woman she is.

There's a large farmer "somewhere" in Suffolk who was an officer in "the regiment" and then an auxillary. Smallish, wiry man, tough as old boots but very unassuming. Good farmer too.
Describes many of the regiment, including the one I know. Apparently they have their own old boys support network too for pensioners and those whose luck turns bad.

Probably one of the world's most elite clubs.(y)

Yes that doctor was a real tough cookie! Toughest one there I reckon... Imagine her husband: with a wife who is not only a consultant (who all think they are God) but also has passed an SAS course ... I wonder what he does ...

just as he's told I suspect:D
