It demonstrates the shortfall and the stupidiy of Ollies comments.

So Corp, Income Tax, VAT and NI makes up 70% of our country's income all generated by eerrr business?

There is some merit in what you are attempting to say but I don't agree.

If a company ceases to exist employees go elsewhere and generate a similar revenue in another company - productivity levels are important as are consumer spending.

Employees pay their duties.
Companies pay their duties.

As regards the 70% .. that's not going to work either because of government spending of tax receipts. I don't know the %age of companies dependant on HMG but I've always thought it was around 50% myself. Never seen a figure.

seriously guys what is wrong with you all that you cant politely point out that I may have gotten one word mixed up with another word. This is basically one of the reasons why a few people have left this forum over the years because everybody on here is just blatantly arrogant and have nothing better to do than just to stir up trouble. I'll admit I should have used minority other than majority... but it was a simple spelling error.

Yes, it is so bad that someone will then hire a trailer, put a poster on it of your words and follow you around for days. Maybe even make then into leaflets and drop them from a helicopter.....

not so sure about that. My son works for a Multi national, they were very well settled in the UK building on a very successful business, it has taken over 20 years for this division to achieve world leadership.
Last year thanks to Brexit the European headquarters were relocated to Holland.
Now my sons division, is heading to California.
My son alone was paying more in tax than the average Farm SFP annual payment. The whole company was earning billions for the UK, further it was attracting other corporations to Europe thanks to their cutting edge technology and intellectual skills.
This was providing a very good career path for young British children to head for straight out of University with their expensive degree.
yes they can go elsewhere, but Costa, Mcdonalds KFC etc, employees, tend to be a drain on the state, since they are so frequently on credits due to the wage levels of these companies.

it might not happen now, the leaflet thing, I've got a Skype conference call in 10 minutes to discuss it but the consensus appears to be that we should have thought of it earlier especially in regard to booking the chopper

Spot on.I think Danllan has not seen ordinary poor working class apart from the few that joined the army,or others in court.

Well, it's a hard thing to socially 'justify' oneself when there is a Cocker like inverse snobbery being held. The Army had its fair share of people from all walks of life and social classes, including the very rich and the very poor. The Courts also see a cross section, although there is certainly a bias toward one class or another for many crimes.

But all that aside, what do you expect me to write; perhaps something in the vein of our current rich carpet-poster? 'Yeah I have seen loads of poor people, they're the ones that jump out the way of my Jag'...

No, not my style, and yet it is almost impossible to write the honest truth without seeming condescending; but here goes, before joining the Army and, at times, while at university I did any job I could to get money, I worked in some very poor areas and with some very poor people, the poorest being in the Valleys. I am at a loss to understand why you might think that someone who isn't poor would be unable to sympathise, even empathise, with those who are.

Some were in their situation because they were bone idle and self-pitying, others were in it because of genuine bad luck and, to my mind, governmental indifference; many, perhaps most, were in it for a combination of these reasons. From my experience I would draw a distinction between the 'working class' and 'benefit scum', the latter being those who don't want to provide for themselves; although both could be on benefits, only one group would want to be on benefits...

Being a class warrior is all well and good, but what happens when you achieve your presumed goal and there are no poor people left? I think too many make a perverse glorification of poverty and the poor, for what it's worth I don't think that being poor makes you a bad person, but I don't see that it means you are a good person either.

At root it is probable we would agree on a great deal but, as for genuine rather than self-imposed poverty, deconstruct the problem and the solution is obvious, education. (y)

Can I just ask a question I have often wondered actually. Of course, it's fine if you don't answer.
Did you go to state school or "public school" (I never understood why private schools were called "public schools")

Point of order. The right Honourable gentlemen's remarks contains a factual error

15 years ago your remarks may have had some substance but the Bomber does not drive a flash car by any stretch of the imagination which the Right Honourable gentlemen would have been aware if he had read the statement that I gave to the house on this matter in my thread titled "ITT Bomber posts pics of flashy cars in Park Lane and Mayfair etc"

Both, I started at the village C of E Primary School, went from there to a Prep School, on to a Public School and then, being kicked out for being a truly aggravating little sh!t, went to a pretty dire local Comprehensive for a year or so.

Public Schools were named as such because, originally, they were local Grammar Schools who accepted fee-paying pupils from outside of their local area. At least, that's what I think I remember learning, but that's a long time ago now...

You confuse my 'Learned' status with that of an Earl or a Privy Counsellor... I couldn't be the first - being a republican - and am not the second, yet... :sneaky:

As for Jag's, once a Jag driver, always a Jag driver - it's a state of mind... I am a wee bit puzzled as to why you imitate 'The Donald', of all people, in his self referential style... :scratchhead:

And your son? Where geographically does the future now take him? Seem to recall you mentioning Holland a few weeks ago, though may be mistaken. Regards.

Not putting a negative slant on things again are you ?

Like as if someone with IT skills is going to work for McDonalds.

There are 100s if not 1000s of companies working in IT. If your son doesn't want a job in the UK someone else will fill it. If the company moving to Holland and now moving to California cannot cut the mustard in the UK another company will fill in the gap and someone else will make money.

The same happens with most companies .. one falls down and another one starts.
