Yes, UK service is pish poor, but then they're spoilt by UK farmers throwing their sub money at them. They don't need to do any work to sell stuff.
I wonder if those on here that applaud buying cheap machinery from Polandshire feel the same about consumers buying cheap beef / lamb / grain from abroad ?

I’m left wondering why Walter needs shiny new arable kit, I thought he had a relatively small livestock farm in west wales, allthough in one photo it looks like he’s bombing down the motorway the wrong way on a new John Deere.

Well, we know that he has at least one (ugly) cow - although an odd one to choose to broadcast... :ROFLMAO:

Bit of a long winded story to tell us you got machinery at better value outside your own area / country but well done for doing it.
Most dealers here in lreland are fairly pee poor as well. There are exceptions though and they are worth finding. Machinery purchase can be unbelieveably good or bad at times.

Great OP, I've never spent that sort of figure, but have happily purchased farm bits from Germany and Poland in the past when not available here.

On your post Oakleaf, I've ordered kit from Ireland, N and S, 3 times in the past year, as local dealers are just not bothered!

My post did come over as a bit churlish, and I have to admire folks who have the nous to be able to import foreign machinery, but whilst some of us are still getting chuffing big subs, is it not right to try and spend it locally to keep the likes of Talis Amos in business ? And we expect our customers to buy British, don't we ?

They do buy cheap from abroad. It’s a global market, they buy wheat, lamb, whatever from abroad to suppress prices at home so we should do the same with machinery etc far more than we do already.

The jobs fudged.

You make a fair point, but if our home grown dealers can’t be arsed..........

Touch of the green eyed monster Rob?? :sour:

Having to make do with grumpy salesmen in Wilts.... :)
No i deal with four local firms two of whom are smallish family run ones,a big NH one and a medium sized one they are all excellent and respond very quickly to any inquiry, if they didnt I would take my business elsewhere, many years ago a firm that supplied dairy supplies employed a attractive lady to go round farms selling stuff, she was very sucessful selling to old men, even my father bought stuff from her, however it wasnt long before the old mens wives started to take an interest and she lost her sales when the novelty wore off. Doesnt matter what anyone says an attractive person sells stuff, its human nature, you dont see many munters in ads, of course businesses want good service so that will in the end outweigh the view, of course a nice lady selling kit who also knows her stuff is the best of both worlds;):D
