Sadly, dog burial detail today :bigtears:, he was ancient and had been getting increasingly dotty and deaf, I had forecast that someone would run him over soon. That someone was me and the vet came to put him to sleep this afternoon.

In all his life of 13 plus years he had only had a lead on when he went to the vet for the annual vaccination and had run free for all the rest of the time.

I am sad writing this but the vet says that loads of farm dogs finish up being run over by their owners, is this true?

Very sorry to read this. I had a very near miss in just the same way yesterday, hence my post a couple of pages ago.
Easier said than done, but it’s important to remember that he had such a good life.

It was good it was you not someone else. It is right that he is buried where he lived. It was good you were there when he died.
The only bad bit is that you caused it - he would forgive you.

A sympathy like from me too. :(

Easily done I guess, and he’s had a good run of it, but I’m sure you must feel pretty gutted.

There’s two dogs at the place I’m working at currently, they are always running about and one is so laid back it’s a wonder she doesn’t fall over all by herself! I found her lounging under the loadall earlier , I’m petrified of running her over, as she doesn’t seem to get out of the way without a nudge! I try and keep them in their pen when running around with machines.

Chin up and have a better day tomorrow (y)
The hot weather is a fatal time for dogs . They love to be with you but it's always under the pickup or tractor they lie down cos it's in the shade and then it's too late !

New to me anyway was the wheel configuration on this truck, driver didn't like it.
Steering rear axle, some of the Dutch one the front rear wheels turn too (used to called a Chinese six especially if the two axles were at the front). They cut in quick !
