Wellies

What's the best wellies for all the abuse they have to put up with on the farm. Difficult to find any that last for more than one winter

Used to have Chameau wellies but after getting through 3 pairs in two years one neoprene, 1 leather and 1 cotton lined I bought a pair of Aigle neoprene ones to try. They were equally as expensive but are a wider fit which suits me better and two years on are still as good as new. Avoid any with a full length zip

Ie chameau is the best I have found, usually used for shooting half a dozen times a year (so no sh?t on them )then relegated for a year or two with usually a pair or two on go at a time at different location but very long lasting and very comfortable

They are all useless and expensive these days, have some cotswolds from mvf at the moment and they are comfy and a fair bit less money than aigles. Will see how they go

I bought a short pair of wellies from Toolstation, made by Amblers Safety. Steel toecap and underfoot protection, really comfortable too with a furry lining, £24. Yet to find how long they last though.

Le Chameau Ceres were a really nice pair of wellies that lasted two years and Buckler safety wellies have done the same. The Bucklers are a little firmer around the ankle if you like support and of course have a safety toecap in them (no vat and tax deductible as safety wear). Both types are warm and need no time to get them feeling comfortable.

Surely all wellies are tax deductible? I have never given it a second thought, as I only wear my wellies for work. I’m not allowed to wear them for best any more.

Rubber or pvc/nitrile? Opinions?
Rubber can be patched but haven't managed to repair pvc.

The ones I got from Kiwikit recently are made of Polyurethane, which is lighter than rubber but supposed to be stronger than pvc. They are certainly comfortable, but time will tell how long they last.

My wife has to stop me wearing wellies to the shops on dry days, they are just so comfy and don't mean I have to tie laces. I call it economy of motion, she calls it lazy.
My accountant signed off a pair of Camels at 120 quid but did say that in an inspection they might flag an issue whereas 'safety' boots would be an automatic accept. I do however have posher shooting kit so would be quite forthright in maintaining they were for work regardless of the fact they would do double duty if given a wash.

Dont rate the red sole Puroforts which I think are the + versions. Soles cave in up through the treads in under a year.

Gone back to standard version of them with steel toe at the moment. Lasting far better and nice and light for a steel toe boot.
Wouldn’t be without my Scholl gel insoles in them though.
