Well it went down the drain. Was hard to relax and read a book. Had to get out and find more candles for reinforcement. Then scavenge some food, now I can try and read. Or stare into the darkSo . . . that steaming bath will eventually turn into a giant ice cube ?

I always thought you rural folk were prepared for such things.
I am, especially as far as bathroom lighting goes. The light doesn’t work in there so I have been using a rechargeable led torch for the last 12 months.
It’s very good and even the missus is quite content with it, hasn’t even mentioned fixing the proper one.

Actually that's pretty pathetic for an animal that can weigh between 50 to 150 tonnes... And I'm assuming thats US gallons ...so 600ltrs. We have a cow doing 90 litres a day atm and might top out at 700kg. So even on the scrawny end of whaledom it would need to be pumping out 6390 litres. Come on whales lift your game or I'll back the Japanese to hunt your lazy ass to extinction

Nope. Few years ago I lost power for about three days this time of year. Landlord was going to get a converter installed for a generator but it never happened. No power, no heat.
so what do you do if its -35 just freeze ?
I always make sure there are two ways of heating the place, here we have a woodburner and electric

Just seen on our news there has been another large tower block fire in Bolton last night.
I can’t help but think back to @holwellcourtfarm post a few days ago about a fire fighters comments about Grenfell tower and the big question mark over current building regs compared to those off old.
