Who told you that?

If it is correct then everything will grind to a halt and its going to be an utter disaster for thousands of farms and will cause massive welfare issues like what happened in 2001 and then things got so bad they had to take them on a welfare scheme.

If they stop Tb testing they have to suspend the requirement to test before selling its simple as that!
I heard tell of it yesterday and meadow quality beef report this morning confirmed it. AFU boys will be smiling

Well if all goes welfare theres plenty of foreign meat to last a couple of weeks after that ?

Very clear from market on Saturday that there is still plenty of demand for finishing/ grazing cattle.

Vet body has stopped vets from doing routine small animal work but farm work for most jobs can continue as long as you ca keep 2+ meters away from the vet. ( but no idea if that's changed on TB testing today )

If they suspend TB testing then the only people that will be able to buy cattle are a handful of farmers with AFU's but where will that leave trade?

Wouldn't surprise me if they did stop TB testing as some police forces have today banned shops from selling Easter eggs!

In my view we must keep annual testing but I think pre-movement is an unnecessary activity

Pre movement tests are just as important to allow farms to move store stock along the chain.

If the calve rearer cant sell weaned calves he cant buy small calves etc, the whole thing would fall apart in days and stock would be backed up everywhere.

If you stop one you must stop the other as well.

I assume you have some routine tests to do shortly thus why you are keen just for them to continue..

Out of curiosity what reserve have you set?
Atleast with a reserve the auctioneer can bid against the back wall I guess until he gets too your reserve without worry....

I put £95 on them, which is about what they’d make dw (where they’d go if they came home).

They lost a kilo in the trailer travelling 7 miles to the market at Welshpool, so 47kg on their scales. Just heard they made £101.50, which is about a fiver up on similar weight Springers last week iirc.

You're a brave man if you bring them back, risking scab and maybe the virus. Hopefully there will be a good trade not many numbers about.

Yes, that’s why I have never put a reserve on before. If they came back, they’d be isolated until they went to the abattoir with the in-spec ones, probably later this week.
