I have been been happy with my trade at Thirsk my decent heifers up to £2.36 and some dairy bred lims plain bloody things £1.90-£2.05 Hoggs up to £1.26 50kg. average £95.5 for 44kg. all things considered and for what my quality was like today a good day, another plus point for the auction mart system if they want them they will come and get them.

So a collective decision to not go to market this week restricts numbers and price holds. Same people decide price is ok and all take some leading to big numbers and a price drop.
same people don’t take any following week because of poor price etc...........
Please everyone trickle lambs out. Better a good average than to second guess the peaks.

Are there even big numbers out there though?
I thought numbers are short due to COVID worries, farmers being busy with lambing/calving/fieldwork as well as a lack of hoggs & lambs on farm- not due to some industry wide ‘no sale week’?

Just seen that north have a store sale tomorrow. Buyers have to register before trade with auctioneer and will be allocated a space.

Speaking to auctioneer other day said he knows of one boy still got 4500 hoggs majority will be over 50kg too
