I wonder if marts will start to allow vendors to watch stock sold from now on....no spectators still
Hardly worth the risk atleast till june with average age of farmers being what they are, drop and go hasnt seen a drop in trade either. More info/detail tomorrow by the sounds

Well not every one is auld....the auld ones don’t have to go if they don’t want...
Rush back and R goes back over 1 we will be locked down till aug/sept so god knows whats best. Dont set you know who off or it will kick off!!

No but I think it may be effecting the “old” ones in a different way. Mentally it could have quite an effect if you can go to the mart but your father cannot, the majority of these older farmers are still farming as it is a way of life, for some the balance sheet is secondary to the pride of doing a “good” job. I personally don’t like the idea of haves and have nots it may come to that but for now I’m ok with drop and go let’s hope it can get back to something resembling normal by the end of summer

IthinkBoris wants to get Britain working again...god I got to go in tomorrow now...cant find my overalls...I really don't think what ever he says or does he can win,but I think they are a bit worried about how much its costing,hence a slow release ,but I am concerned we may end up back at square one

I completely agree. My Grandad doesn't like driving far anymore, the mind is still sharp as a new pin but he can't keep up with us now. The one thing he can do is come to the market with me. He sits on the stand, chats with his mates and the auctioneers who he has dealt with for years before I took over, it keeps him going. But he is coping alright with not seeing the finished stock sold (the good trade is really helping here).
He's hoping like hell that everything goes too plan and restrictions are relaxed a bit by September to enable him too come buying ewe lambs and feeding sheep with me. He will be really really miserable if I'm buying 3 days a week and he can't come with me. Plus he's someone too talk too on the long drives home!!
(Also spare a thought for the old farmers wives who have too put up with them under their feet instead of disappearing off to the mart 1 or 2 days a week!)

There is no way vendors will be allowed back into markets as long as the 2 meter rule is in place!
And that's for the simple reason that there wont be enough space for the buyers if you allow vendors back in whilst the 2 meter rule is in force.
Is sh!t and no one likes it but that's the score currently.
There is always one week to sell them light but it's at least a month or 6 weeks away I would of thought

Mate of mine is selling Rouge x Dorset springers at moment in Drayton every week. 34-38kg over the last 3 weeks he's averaged £2.89/kg. at that price, if they are finished I think they are better gone. feed them for another month to take £2.50/kg?

I’ve got 41kg lamb ready from March born but in withdrawal till next week.
