New toy day

Oh dear.

My new toy came home last week but it’s 14 years old with many moving parts and adjustable settings.

Going to be a steep learning curve. Last combine I drove was an old NH1540 over 25 years ago:nailbiting:
Uhem!
It wouldn't worry me because that is renowned as a very reliable Combine.

What would worry me is that it is rather a different animal to a 1540.
I just hope you don't remember how slowly you used to go, because the new one is going to go a lot faster.

What might daunt you is the electronics it has on it. But don't be put off. You'll soon get used to them.

Took a bit of a gamble and bought 3 of these clamping bale trailers...pricey but very efficient saving 7x straps every load.

The depreciation in 12 months on the toys in the previous 44 pages would be many millions. That's why I never buy new. The new Case is ex Case hire to Velcourt, the tyres look 100% so I guess it's been on row crops and it has been built without a radio so it's most likely been on a veg planter or something where you need to hear people shout. A few months on tickover and it's £20k off new.

It’s that £20,000 off it’s original purchase price or £20,000 off the current purchase price? Big difference between the two or even worse is it £20,000 off the current inflated RRP which means you’ve had no real proper discount and have paid the same price for a brand spanker with zero hours.

It's never been sold before, it's ex hire direct from Case. It's a 19 plate with still some warranty remaining. I paid £58k with front links, 50k, front and cab suspension, air brakes, exhaust brake. You find me a 150hp tractor of any brand new at that price and I'll be amazed.

So you have about £50,000 left to buy a new radio head unit for it?

Do you know who had it on hire?

Seen some right animals on hire tractors when local bypass getting built. Having seen them and bought a ex hire tractor, I wouldn't consider an ex hire tractor again.

Ex demo is different, they know there handing it back shortly so won't wreck it.

Normally short term warranties on them too. Worn tyres, different finance terms.

It's not really the no brainer you make it out to be? If it was nobody would buy new tractors?

Glad your so happy with deal you got though.

Read back a bit, it's ex Velcourt, it's been on row crops and has no radio so my bet is that it's been on a veg transplanter. It's mint, I'm happy..

We have just had 300 round bales delivered in from a local contractor who has also purchased 3 of these, awesome pieces of kit, time saving and safety seem excellent.
Is it a coincidence [emoji23]

Thank you @Fergieman you were spot on. Before KFS got here, I pressed the pickup icon and it changed to a pair of scissors, which refers to the chopping knives. Then I pressured the spool for that circuit, the box beeped and it went back to the pickup icon, which now goes up and down merrily !

She works a treat and we are very impressed with the baler. Fast and fantastically well formed bales.
We tried with the knives in, but it smashed the hay up too much, so took them all out.
I had a hell of a job trying to keep ahead Of the baler with the rake.

Also very impressed how clean it keeps itself compared to our old NH.
Really nice looking machine. Does it have a drop/flex floor and hydraulic knife engagement?

Yes it has hydraulic knife engagement. The knives are in 2 banks and each set can be half or fully inserted.
I don’t think it has a drop/flex floor. Maybe it does and I haven’t found it yet. It also has a cam less pickup reel.

Very pleased with it so far. One of the things I really like is that because it only has belts on each side with slats between them, it lets all the Dust out rather than trap it in the bale. And each bale is incredibly uniform in shape because those slats allow some sideways movement of the crop as the bale is formed. It really is a well thought out design.
