ABP Perth paid £3.82 base for clean and £3.80 for bulls this week. That’s about 50p/kg more than the majority of my bulls sold for back in April ? not much left now other than cull cows in a few weeks/months time.
Now for the next dilemma.... sell weaned 9-10month old calves in July or September or keep them and finish them February/March 21......

That’s a difficult one to call

What was Sedge like this week @gone up the hill ? Spose they couldn't give them away :)

HA HA it was a day when all sellers had won the big jackpot on the lottery!

Trade can only be described as : Off the chart in all rings!

Store cattle were well up on the week, didn't take much of a steer to make £1000/1100 and plenty at £1200 with the top about £1335, price of note was a very young but exceptionally well farmed suckler bred Blue steer at £880 head.

Stirks, a very poor entry both quality and entry wise with anything half decent and dairy bred a serious trade, 8/10 month old blue heifers that would have been £370/420 last week were £500 today, top was about £890 head, other good suckler bred lims at £840 and Char steers with the same comments sold at £755 head, I thought the top end stuff was slightly easier on the week but others thought they were a shade dearer!

I was told the calve's were making serious money in the calve ring and there was plenty of serious buying power in the suckler cow ring with bulls to something like £2500 head ( I didn't go in either of these rings so that is second hand info so of course may not be correct )

As for the prime and store trade carrying on at current levels..

Both have gone up far too quick but will be okay for 2/3 months I feel but after that I wouldn't be so confident on either staying at current levels.

If you have strong stores to sell, get them tested and in the ring asap, this trade CANNOT be missed.
