Mineral drench might help this time of year if they aren’t doing maybe an then sell in stores when they’ve picked up a bit in say a month ??

All mineral drenched and wormed a month ago and never really done anything since tbf probably not done anything for months but not really noticed it we much we been drawing fat lambs out and now Iv not drawn any for a month Iv noticed nothing is moving anymore ... on good grass too I’m thinking make them somebody else’s problem too [emoji23] some lambs just don’t do and never will do personally I think it’s down too colostrum intake in there first day of life and I Had a lot of problems at lambing with not enough milk on ewes so I’m putting it down too that as never had lambs left in August before

What makes a lamb is the first month or three of their lives. Sounds daft maybe but it is relevant

Definatly true first month is when the magic happens and you can tell who the runts are gonna be.. only thing Iv not been plagued with this year is scab and fly strike so I’m not complaining too much really .. CODD at lambing then poor colostrum and milk which was my fault... then the draught hit and no real spring flush of grass.. then a fox picked off about 30 lambs over a 2 week period .. then cocci took a few... then pulpy kidney took a few more .. f**k my life thinking back on the last few months why do I even enjoy sheep farming 🤦🏻‍♂️[emoji23] and don’t even get me started on the 4 cade lambs Iv had since February that have eaten over a ton of corn and still haven’t got too 40kg [emoji24]

Just unloaded second wagon of lambs bought from bentham today. I was up 6 quid which on the year was thrilled with. Some seriously good sheep/runs in there. A booth, an andrew brown, hutchinson, a pye, many many more. Serious power, good skins heads. Good price i admit but when you bought them at last years prices and sold a decent store lamb at good money and made over 40 profit selling the shearling are they so dear compared to other things? Big talking point was a big seller called richard hargreaves. He got third in show with lambs shown beautifully, second pen same, but rest of run all clipped, looked powerful things, surely will go on better for buyer, less expense and work for him. Didnt seem to effect his trade, i would think had one of highest averages. Personally i would think a lot of vendors seeing his trade, and big interest from buyers will do the same next year?? Think he did around 450, and 9500 in sale roughly? I would be surprised if there isnt over 1200 done next year

Iv been saying it for years, don't mess about trimming just take the wool off them for the buyer. Shorn ewe lambs do so much better and you can see the condition of them.
