Just been passed the village butchers and the que outside was 50 meters up the road [emoji15] atleast 30 people stood outside waiting too go in
Isn’t it a funny old world. Apparently turkeys have never been in such demand from butchers with more people eating at home for Christmas. Doesn’t it go to show something is not quite right with the whole meat industry. We are told how disastrous it would be with the catering trade being knocked for six yet trades have held up.

People still have to eat!!!
The catering trade often buy foreign meat as we know, and the question is rarely asked "where is this from"
When you go to a restaurant, how often do you get given a portion of something and then get the chance to go back for second helpings foc?
With a family mealtime it's usually a free for all here, take as much as you want, usually with some leftovers. So probably get through a lot more meat than going to a restaurant.
My point being, people want British and are buying a bigger volume per head than what the catering trade probably would. Correct me if I'm wrong!

I wouldn't want to put any money on it getting stronger for some weeks.
You have to remember that the increase over the last few days has been driven by the uncertainty over Brexit, weak sterling and fortunately lower numbers.

Unfortunately in that queue of 6,000 lorries is a lot of lamb that should have gone to the EU. Some of it will cause an overhang in the market for a while if it cannot get delivered before New Year and hopefully it won't be dumped on the market here.

Luckily numbers are tight and will stay that way but we have to remember the european economies are also struggling. My Crystal ball tells me that it will be Easter before we see significant price rises for lamb. But ewes will continue to be a strong trade.
I disagree Frank. Me thinks price will be very strong all the way through including January. I suspect February will be very very strong, - that period inbetween before the spring tegs come out......
These lambs numbers are about to dry up big time until mid march.....

I agree more people eating at home has been better than people eating out.

What about their trousers ?

I have never tried them to be fair. I’m currently wearing:

(yes I’m standing in a field posting on TFF😂)

I bought them on line in the autumn and worn them a lot and they are holding up well so far.

Not silly money

Certainly very handy for the French Gov to show how difficult they could make life for the UK if there is a no deal trade exit for the UK at a very critical point in talks with the UK/EU over a trade deal...

Also very handy for the UK Gov if there is a no deal trade exit as not only does this solve the bad PR of lorry's queuing for hours/days to be allowed to cross the channel but any fallout over anything bad brexit related if there is a no deal can be blamed on the virus and not the mess the UK Gov will have got us into by their failure to get a trade deal.

Whatever your views on the virus/ brexit etc one thing is true and that its quite clear the UK Gov have no regard for Business and could not get less if they destroy every industry/ sector in the UK to cover up for their incompetence!

Much stricter portion control in a restaurant, that’s their profit you are eating!!

Not devastated but i will always wonder what a no deal would have been like and how high the beef price would have been. Sheep trade will get dearer and dearer now until the new season lambs start coming forward. The store lamb gamblers win again
was there ever a doubt ?
no way was the amount of confidence in stores just down to farmer buyers gambling with too much cash / grass heating the trade , Contract buyers with links well up in the food chain is what pushed it , Meat trade Procurement is a complicated animal !

Been past a local butchers this morning never seen such a big q, with people not allowed to see so many families it bound to put meat sales up.....maybe less big joints but lot more smaller joints has more individual familys have to stay together than join a family.
