Would hazard an educated guess that breeder will be as dear if not more so this backend than they were last 👍

But to me, cost of replacing an empty ewe lamb at scanning with an extra one from next years crop is minimal the only bit that gets me is the £8 in vaccines they had in October and to be fair I would be hoping to be closer to £120 than £110 if I have many to sell .....will find out on Wednesday 🤞 most will be in lamb
I cost my homebred ewe lambs at £70/piece as that what they would’ve made fat back in pocket on 1st july. Got 62 I was gonna run on as yearlings and sell as I’ve got some rough grazing they’ve been on, probably sell late February instead now. I’m keeping my empty at scanning ewe lambs (mule and exlanaX) though but the 62 texelX were never put to the ram, try a bit of cash flow initiative too, it’s a long time from October-June.

The girl that works for me had a pedigree Dorset Ewe and twin lambs in the mart today and made £340 😮 she was hoping £230-240. I thinI she said 3 & 4 year old texelX carrying twins making £238.

A fantastic entry of 1923 sheep were forward at Thirsk. With all vendors being greatly rewarded with the efforts to brace the snow! The run of sheep forward were a real credit to all our vendors, this was met by a fantastic demand by all buyers present. An SQQ average of 281.88ppk was achieved. More numbers are required on a weekly basis to satisfy demand.
Top Price of the day came from Jo Andrews with a Beltex X at £170 purchased by Mr A Atkinson on behalf of Hartshead Meats Ltd, Ashton Under Lyne.
Topping the Pence Per Kilo again this week was WM Garbutt Ltd, Water Hall Farm with a Beltex X at 368.1 ppkg purchased by Field Fresh Trading Ltd, Conwy.
Great prices there as usual but the quality must be vey good. Do people just not send poor quality there as there's no market for it?

There's a lot of very good cattle U+ & E grade, there is also more R grade cattle going now than say a year ago, and some black and white bullocks as well. There was definitely 1 or 2 worse than poor there on Thursday :X3:
A good show of cattle each week, good numbers each week, and a good number of buyers each week, and no catchphrases needed!!!!!

Same as the sale up the road on a thursday report reads well but a lot of plain stuff in now and lacking buyers think you have the edge with the trade keep thinking about trying a fee with you but its 60 odd miles
