Valtra has 2 gearboxes, the direct "Vario" hydrostatic, and the "conventional" 4 range 5 powershift. This is in the active, and versu. Most if not all active/versu will also have a creeper box which will be slow enough for feeding silage.Looking to swap my one tractor, what would be the approx diff between the active and direct?
Also, i know of a t series active for sale, any good or is it best to find an direct. main jobs would be feeder in winter, bale wrapper, tedding , topper, hedge cutting. I do really want a vario type of box and the direct would be quire close to that, feeding silage with feeder is to fast with my current tractor and hedge cutting also.
Active has manual spool levers, and versu has electric. Like the direct, hydraulic and gearbox oils are separate.
The powershift gearbox has automatic shifting features that are well thought out, actually do work, and do improve ease off driving.
For what you've described as the workload, you want a direct though! Good luck finding what you're after, it took me over a year of looking to find a used direct that I could actually afford!
