Shes definitely not in-calf, calved in january and hasn't been served since, no bulls on the farm either, I've got semex coming now to serve her so will find out shortly if theres something going on or if shes just a bit more difficult 👍
Are you sure she's not PD+?

Without being there with you but if the cervix is difficult to grab, keeps wanting to go down and over the pelvic bone it's a good indicator that she's probably 100d PD+ or more.

If I'd looked at the photo properly I would have seen she had calved.
I have been serving for 30+ years and had more difficult 1st calvers this year than all the rest put together.
1st calvers can be like maidens in terms of the cervix size but have issues because of scar tissue from calving.
In time you will want to explore a little deeper and can then feel the horns of the uterus. In a calved heifer who is bulling you would expect to be able to feel both horns under your hand if you reach a little deeper. If you can't check the service book!

Exactly that.

When gloving her the cervix should be very easy to find - certainly no deeper than your wrist anyway. Then work your way down each horn checking for tone, 2 good ovaries and that's it.

If you have to go hunting for something it's never a good sign that she's bulling.

She was definitely bulling as well, was disgusting yesterday in the parlour and kept trying to jump me as well, huge amount of the fluid stuff as well

.

I have to say it’s very rare to find cervix that close. I’d guess you must have small animals. Even my maiden heifers are normally at least half way to my elbow or further in.

You won't know they're wasted until 3 weeks time.

She might not have got incalf this time but she definitely wouldnt have if she hadn't been served.
Hopefully she will 🤞 the way I look at it is I wasted say 60 quid on 1 I couldnt do but if I can do 6 of them then I save 60 on getting a tech in so this year I dont think I'll save much if any money, but for years to come I should

I always write on breeding chart if a cow was hard service.
Having said that they can vary depending on how strong they are bulling heat to heat
