The Demo Thread

Was just here for the afternoon. We unfortunately never get demos for longer than a few hours over here. Initial thoughts. Really nice cab, great ride comfort, cvt works great on road but a bit irritating in field. Seems like engine and gearbox don't talk quick enough to each other. Especially with us today using it to pull a ripper. Was really impressed with the power from the 4 pot. Handled the ripper really good without its front weight or wheel weights. The screen it has in I couldnt really use in the short time but what I saw I wasn't very impressed with. Overall I think it is a good tractor. Waiting to get a Valtra on demo as well.
The perceived performance in the field is due to the "droop" setting, it was probably adjusted for road work and not set properly for the field application, dealer should have explained this on installation and you didn't have it long enough to "play" with all the settings.

Agree with you 100%. Asked the dealer to please leave it longer with us so we can play around with settings. He wouldnt go for that. Also he didnt even know how to handle all the settings. Big problem here in South Africa. We get demos for a few hours and salesmen dont know their own product. Causes for big confusion.

Valtra N134 on demo today. Have to say I was very impressed with the tractor. Big cab, comfy seat, great gearbox, great pto power. Our strautmann mixer makes the JD 6140M and New Holland T6070 work for its fuel. The Valtra pulled it better. Valtra is "newish" to the South African market and especially new to our region. Unfortunately this specific unit was way overpriced compared to the competitors.

Well we used it to load 300 bales of silage yesterday thoughts are a little bit underwhelmed by it . Nothing really wrong with it but just not that blown away by it to drive or power or gearbox wise.

For being full suspension it's a fairly rough ride it wasn't much betterthan our 64 with just front suspension and no loader suspension and nowhere near as good the 6120m with everything suspended.

Cab is ok now startling if anything feels a bit cheap made the plastic has that feel to it .
A bit disappointed with the vision to the loader the last ones we tried had no loader and I'm surprised how big the bonnet is when you see it between the loader arms .

Why do manufacturers make a decent cab then cock it by putting stuff in that doesn't fit like the armrest if you turn the seat it could on the side you can move the arm to turn the seat but it then ends up jammed to your leg !!

Are all new loaders as blind for hooking up attachments that a new jd and a quickie we've had and our old JD 653 is far easier to see??

I can't see our 6430 going anywhere soon anyway

I can see your problem there. You want a Sisu engine but the Valtra armrest.

Problem solved. You can buy a Valtra. Sorted.(y)

Well I've had a Massey telescopic on demo for a couple of days,8043,yes they are made by Bobcat, but they do look the part in red.
Amazed how compact it is for a 8m high lift and 4.3 ton lift, when they said what model i was getting on demo I thought it was going to be a massive clumberson great lump, but no, its only a few inches longer than my JD 3220,Bonus.
Yes its hydrostatic and not everyone's cup of tea but I've got too like it,its fast both in speed and in hydraulics.
Its got 2 gears, and a splitter and a creep gear which can adjusted.
You can, I've been told add hydraulic attachments pipes under pressure, haven't tried that part, which is a pita on my JD with the Sutton road brush.
Think the only gripe I had was with the boom suspension which seemed to have a mind of its own, they are going to look into that....probably operator error tho.
Oh and that poxy ball bearing spirt level thing on the corner post which rattled............a lot.
1st thing that would hit the back of the workshop if I decide to keep it,and why don't they put a camera on the pickup hitch nowadays instead of a crap mirror which will get knocked out of view.
Useless.
Do I like it.........
yes👍👍
it'll do everything I want and a lot more, and its got great air con in that green house of a cab.

Anyone want to buy a JD 3220!

Looks the part that! Is it the style of pic or is the cab very cramped? Looks extremely narrow but could be the way the photo was taken.

I’m also far from convinced a cream interior will work out well in a telehandler:oops:

An added bonus is that you don’t have to scale Everest to get into the cab!

The 3rd pic is a wide angle one to get more into the picture I assume, that's why it looks so squished in the middle
