Had a RT inspection yesterday, very nice lady (although quite sharp) but she said it is going to be illegal from the autumn to use udder cloths, you will only be allowed to use bought in medicated wet wipes, just wondered if this is correct.

Always make me smile when I see things phrased in these sort of terms

Will the Courts be inundated with cases of farmers charged with illegal use of a cloth to wipe a cow? Police CSI's giving evidence that parlour swabs show a 99.9% probability that a cloth had been present? Police offering rewards for "information leading to a conviction" or staking out country lanes to track clandestine deliveries of dairy hygiene supplies?

She said, predipping and wiping dry with an udder cloth will not be allowed, I would imagine they will want to see receipt's for purchased wipes, just asking the question, I did have the privilege of two inspectors doing my audit and they both said the same thing.

On what basis? What about units that wash cloths after every use? Seem to recall @Bald Rick does, Use dry wipe paper here if necessary.

I guess a lot of the standards are protecting the cows from stupid user error where some knobhead makes up a mix of far too strong Hypo or no chemical at all and ends up give half a dozen cows mastitis etc.

That says more about the standard of inspectors employed than future red tractor policy.

Nothing on their website yet, only change for the autumn flagged up is the need for the written breeding policy and plan for calf accommodation.

I don't even recall any changes to teat prep being in the consultation that took place earlier this year?

I'm guessing that a written breeding policy won't be as simple as a protocol or mating list?

I'd have thought you knew better than to listen to IDLE gossip, because those who do it have nothing better to do. (Just my opinion, most would be better minding their own business than sticking their noses in the business of others)
Not listened to any gossip, just some of your previous posts intimated you were hanging up the clusters. Apologies if I miss read.
