Anybody else at the Stirling sale today. I wouldnt say they were on fire. I don't know how the quality compared to Carlisle.
They were a decent trade but nothing extreme, I haven't all the prices - top price Aberfield at £1250 I think. Didn't seem much buzz about the place (that's mibie due to Covid)
Interesting. That sale was very dear last year, possibly put people (including myself) off a bit

The cases of BSE in Brazil are 'Atypical' meaning they've
caught it spontaneously not from eating contaminated
feed. There is an agreement between Brazil and China to
shut down supply immediately if such cases are found so
China has time to ask for further checks before resuming business.
No need to rush out and empty your supermarket of bog roll yet. 😂

No, Joseph hellar but through S J bargh… apparently a load of drivers leaving for supermarket driving jobs on better money 🤦‍♂️
It's a small world, apparently one driver never turned in, Helers sold the milk on, our tanker driver was asked to pick 4 of the farms up after doing his normal 2 runs, he said the one farm refused to let him have it, would rather tip it down the drain.

2 farms near here, dilhorne and ipstones, ended up down the drain.

The dilhorne farmer advertised on Facebook, that if you bought your own bottle, you could take what your want for free before 4pm, (afternoon milking i assume).

Apparently they’re coming today but not sure when 🙈 tank is full too the brim so can’t put another milking in so wonder how long they’ll leave it before they pull the plug on the tank 😬😅

Store cattle have noticeably become a two tier trade this last week, with R grade types easing quite a bit to more realistic levels. I’ve thought for a while all stores have lifted to match the rise in live weight, best end cattle but the d/w trade has only just got back to January levels. They obviously aren’t adding up into profit. In J36, and Selby yesterday dairy bred stores cheaper, U grading cattle no different. Defying logic with barley rising weekly suckler bulls jumping in price, 450 kg bulls up to £1450, dearer than Thirsk on Tuesday when a run of forty odd bulls from one farm looked the dearest trade I have seen yet.

A nearby pig farmer has just had 10% knocked off his contract numbers with immediate effect due to the ongoing problems. The pig job is looking pretty dire. Logistics is soon going to affect us all though nothing is moving. I was told some lorry firms up here with supermarket distribution contracts are offering up to £1000/day for weekend class 1 work they are so far behind.

Yes there’s been a few sales at Carlisle lately where there’s been a bit of a drop in trade for the less attractive cattle. Cattle which won’t grade too well or are lacking flesh or both have come under more scrutiny of trade.
What usually happens at this time of year when trade is good, grass quality eases and more cattle appear on the market as the reality of having to feed and house these beast there becomes a wider gap between the fed cattle and ran on cattle.
I often think big framed poorer done types look cheap around now

I heard plainer cattle were a fair bit less on Wednesday from a seller

Mate has a haulage business and we were out with them for grub last night.
He was saying there’s firms with many lorries parked up due to driver shortages
Sounds like firms are poaching each other’s drivers mainly supermarkets being the guilty parties
One lad was telling him he was getting £1150 per week

Where are you the drivers gone? And more to the point where are all the works gone? No body seems to want to work at the moment... How do people live????
Also I think there to many people / jobs that offer 4 days on 4 days off seems a lot going on now, I don't think that does a lot of good really just makes people less worky

Haha. It’s badly shared out that’s for sure
I don’t know where they’ve gone. Maybe it’s the European drivers are away back?
I have a lot of mates in haulage they are all sick of it.
All getting long in the tooth now as well. Not a great deal of youngsters wanting to do it.

Sucklerbred things the same weight as dairy x ones are £200+ dearer from what i have seen and quality feeding bulls 400-500kg are £3/kg. I actually think the smaller average type things have eased in price but that is only probably due to the time of year, once harvesting and planting is over and the autumn sales start the smaller things will take off imo
