I think it was a certain con man that advertised in FW also looking for mugs, rumour has it they slit the throat of some farmer up your way?
I heard there had been threats of violence and some farmers had sent the money back not wanting them on the farm. I couldnt understand why the auctioneers entertained them tbh, yes they drove the prices up but they also alienated the farmers who usually come back year after year for straw.

Are they the same ones buying at the herefordshire auctions that were advertising in the FW with multiple telephone numbers, where has all the straw gone as surely that amount wasnt needed in the pet industry
With the way straw prices went last winter a lot of opportunists have jumped on the bandwagon ,it is very definitely a case of seller beware. Is it really worth getting a headline price if you never get paid.

I'd be asking for the commission back from the auctioneers for all the straw sold at the auction even that without any hassle, at the end of the day they took the bids from what looks to be a bunch of gangsters!

They have been back to a couple of farms demanding money back saying the straw was no good and threatening to burn the farms down if they aren't paid by bacs within 12 hrs . I know of a least one who gave into them and refunded half the money. Its a ' heavy gang' from the Midlands who turned up on the 2 farms i know about . The bank account was registered in Dubai !

This straw selling is turning into a agricultural version of the film 'layer cake'.
I want to know who's going to star as Jimmy Price and Eddie Temple .
Will we find Puntabrava hiding in a basket at the top of his cherry picker and
Derrick incognito amongst a group of lycra clad cyclists. 😂
