It’s an interesting notion. We’re the udders so Low because of poor breeding or because the cows were lasting for ever on such a low stress system?My father relief milked in a bail. One cow had an udder so low, there was a spade to dig a hole beneath her to hang the cluster!
I'm grateful for the metric system. Looking at these numbers, I can hardly make any sense of it.

Could I recommend , for anyone who is interested, reading Farmers Glory by AG Street . Got through it this spring and it describes farming before the first world war , one man to 10 cows handmilking ,his emigration to Canada which is fascinating, breaking the prairies with a lot of horses and plow. The boom and bust after the war. And the third section where he becomes a disciple of Hosier.

Are they parlour's or bail's as I thought I'd read some where that they'd given up on the bail's and put parlour's in (the article said they'd built their own)

I imagine that it’s a real struggle with labor efficiency.
