What happened that bad year was hoggs in general were a bad trade so folks kept a lot back and thought weight would cure the job resulting in a general higher percentage of heavy hoggs coming forward
I remember a lot being sold on from finishers to other finishers sold by the wagon load per kilo
Not long after they lifted a fair bit
How late? I don’t sell any hoggs until April, and there was certainly still a £100 ceiling all through April.
They should all be sold by Christmas anyway, or it just holds the Spring lamb price down…..
