Cows are spitting out Limi calves no issues it's just our heifers we struggle on. Kept them fairly tight all summer. It is not just the bull it is the season and management. I've had a lot of trouble this year. Just pulled a big blue 5 minutes ago. From what the vet tells me, the size of the calf is determined in the 6th & 7th month of pregnancy. A grassy late summer like this one will cause problems for cows calving now.

C&G cows have the biggest calves here by far. Think they might be fine for March calving, but they aren't ideal for September.Try Alan Gifford at twilight Herefords at Milton Damerel, we've used his bulls since 2017, hardly have to pull anything, @Cows 'n grass uses his bulls too, we've found Angus not easy calving, near neighbours breed "easy calving Angus" to big on shoulders and gets nobody returning for a replacement bull.
We are finishing all beef so calf value is needed. What are ruby reds like?.I know fat suckler cows are nightmare but what about on dairy?C&G cows have the biggest calves here by far. Think they might be fine for March calving, but they aren't ideal for September.
@Martyn if calve value isn't a priority, on fb 2 days ago was a Galloway. Local to you. He would cover them no worries
They would be extended lactation? Or spring calvers, Netherhall Jack we use for AI they also calved properC&G cows have the biggest calves here by far. Think they might be fine for March calving, but they aren't ideal for September.

Long gestation arnt they? Plus 285?You could try a Bazadaise bull. Bazadaise were first brought into this country from France in the late 1980s to be used on dairy cows because they have a reputation for easy calving. This is because the calves are born small with not much muscling apparent. The muscling develops quickly in the months after they're born.
You would get a good beef calf with the heifers suitable and in demand as beef cows.
There are at least a couple of Baz breeders in the south west.
Pm me if you want names.
Average for a beef breed, 284 days, not sure on average gestation length for these calves, will ask and report backLong gestation arnt they? Plus 285?
Cow killerI keep wondering about simmental? Anyone have any experience of them? I would have thought they'd be easier than limo but still quality calves and the heifers would probably be wanted as suckler cows
