Parents had steaks from the local butcher last week and left 3/4 of it, they said it was worse than a leather boot and didn’t even bring it down for the dogs as they didn’t want the dogs to suffer 🤦🏻‍♂️ I know the slaughter house the butcher gets from does a large amount of cull cows 🤷🏻‍♂️
Hope they went back to butcher and complained too.

If nobody complains. Nothing will change

Heard lately of a box lamb seller who has stopped because the slaughter house wants £48/lamb to kill and butcher! Quick online search of quality box beef type firms earlier had 1 wagyu steak at £120!
I do box lambs, kill and cut has gone up to £50. Admittedly vacuum packed and they do a good job, but £15 increase in 12 months is hard to swallow. Need to explore other options next year or we’ll just run the lambs on a bit heavier and stick them all in market.

Are culls sold last up country, then? Generally, lamb sellers are fretting to have the culls and breeders sold, and then it's their turn.
