That’s what’s happening anyway. BoJo and his cronies have already been busy ‘negotiating’/begging trade deals to sell UK Ag down the river in their pursuit of cheap food for the masses.

RT being dismissed will make no difference to that, other than reducing costs and stress to the primary producers. It isn’t valued by farmers, buyers or retailers.
Not quite true, there are some firms who do not touch non farm assured fat stock .

That's the kind of thing the Nfu would say to justify the existence of RT, absolutely ridiculous. We have legal standards that are in place across the sector to put UK produce in a better light than the majority of foreign imports.
Not so sure they work and i think the end of assurance will only really benefit the arable men and not the poor livestock farming relation

That’s because of the closed chain of control, not that they value what RT brings to the table.
They only buy ‘RT only’ stock because that’s what their retailer customers have bought into, so the demands (& costs) get passed down the chain, ending up with the poor saps that can’t pass the costs down any further.

Sainsbury’s dropped RT several years ago. Has it made any difference to their market share?

Well the inspection finally happened ..... I've left it a couple of days so that I've calmed down !
The lass turned up ......it went downhill fast from there !!
Instead of keeping out of the way I opened my big gob and told her straightaway that I'm not messing about and I haven't time to waste so get on with it ....black looks of OH !
She wanted to look at cattle and sheds .....come on then I said and strode off ....keep up or don't bother I told her !
Got to sheds ....where's the disinfectant she asked ..... Ignored her .
She inspected the handling system and the wanted to run 5 cows and 5 stores through it to read their tags ...I refused and told her to read them in the shed .....I can't see them properly was her reply to which I told her to leave the property !
Walking back down towards the house she attempted to make conversation but I was having none of it . OH came out to see what was going on and took over and queitly calmed the atmosphere a bit .
Inspector then asked to come into house by OH !
All didn't go to well in the house either and ended up with inspector in tears and me being told by OH to go outside and find something to do .
I did that and let off a bit of steam with a cheery phone all to @Celt83 which made me feel a lot better .
Back I go into house to find that the inspector was sat in car on phone to her 'line manager' ...... turns out she had asked the OH some questions that OH thought was irrelevant to RT and none of their business and told the girl what she thought !!!
End result .....a phone call off the 'line manager ' to me asking me to keep out of the house and let her 'officer' do her job as she was a 'trained professional ' and was only doing her job . .....I replied ..how dare you ask me to stay out of my own property you have no right to do that so stick the whole lot up your ass !! .
It appears the inspector had told her that I refused to let her read some ear numbers of cattle . I said that was untrue and I had refused to run 5 cows through the handling system as they were heavy in calf and it was not the right thing to do .....she agreed !!
I then said I told her to read them in the pen .....she agreed !
I also said that the inspection criteria was so far over the top and draconian.....she once again agreed but said it's what we have to do . We did go on to have a decent conversation about the whole RT racket and she assured me that she and her colleagues are continually sending feedback to the 'top line of management' about the criteria of an inspection and the nonsense of a lot of it . She also said that there is a huge push to get 'lifetime' assurance and it will only be a matter of time .

10 mins later ,after reading a text that came through (I suspect off her line manager), we were told "Thankyou very much you have no 'nonconformities ' and you have passed !!

OH said that while I was talking on phone outside the girl said " I need to get finished so I can feed my horses in the light" ....What a Farce !!!
Guess after our conversation you ended up eating steak and not porridge! 😂 😂

I suppose she'll look back at this one day as character building when she's running RT.

Always said that if your in a job dealing with the public, especially farmers, you have to have very thick skin. I'm not saying for one minute that HC was bullying her at all, but if she was a youngster and starting out I bet she had an "official" playbook that she had been trained to treat it like a bible, and not to deviate from the written word! No matter how silly the requests were.

Just incase the rozzers do turn up, I do not know this man, never met this man and do not recollect any telephone conversation on said day!! 😂

That’s entirely disgusting, bullying behaviour on your part. I hope it made you feel big

Looking through the changes for this autumn i am really not sure i will carry on with the beef for the 10-15 cattle we sell a year, having to get all the plans signed by the vet from this year including the empty one to say we haven't used any antibotics again plus doing the medicines course means i think i might just leave. I always like to have it laid out and ready to go but I think we will just drop to cereals one which we need to have as we have no grain storage.

Agree, but then we're used to that kind of behaviour from the dead tractor and we just have to either put up with it or find a way to stop funding the gravy train.

If there’s an issue with the whole scheme, speak to somebody above the inspector who literally was just doing their job. To be fair it sounds to me the ones with a massive problem with it are just the ones that are non compliant.

It was destined to get off to a bad start .
Original appointment was 2.30 then a text arrived at 8.15 asking can it be changed to 11 am to whichvwe agreed then at 9.43 another text changing to 4pm to which we agreed to again then another text at 2.30 saying the 2.30 appointment was cancelled at last minute so can she come straight away . Yes I said and it was quarter to 4 before she turned up saying .....I went to get some feed for my horse on the way .... I feel I was very accommodating !

Totally agree that the above was a pee take, however why did you go along with it ? I might have accepted one time change if it were convenient, but after that it would have been a case of honour the appointment or rebook at no potential penalty to myself.
As to the inspection, sorry but you have no idea how to behave Instead of keeping out of the way I opened my big gob and told her straightaway that I'm not messing about and I haven't time to waste so get on with it ....black looks of OH ! What a way to start any form of business meeting. I wouldn't expect anyone to talk to my daughter or indeed my wife or even myself like that at the commencement of a meeting inspection and if you are being honest nor would you.
She was there to do a job, if you thought she was incompetent at it you should have terminated the inspection and asked her politely to leave and reported the reasons to her supervisor.

People moan continually about the snowflake generation, yes this is an issue, its also an issue when people behave like the neanderthal foreman and managers who used to haunt factory floors years ago bullying anyone they felt like.

Twaddle. better to not post unless you have something accurate to say, that you know what you are talking about.

I thought the livestock assurance rules were a walk in the park compared to the cereals one?

I can accurately say he didn’t have a disinfectant boot dip
I did have one .....but not at the entrance to each cattle shed which she was saying I should have .
She could have disinfected her feet on arrival at the premises but she chose not to until we got up to the cattle sheds .

Neither have we ,but we passed this summer with no problem. It's always been acceptable to have disinfectant on farm for when/if it's needed. Haven't had an auditor here yet who hasn't got a bucket and a brush in the car and disinfects wellys and waterproof trousers before starting the audit
