We're separating Angus bullocks and heifers now for finishing. Heifers were just getting to fat before they were finished. Both on good silage but bullocks on a finishing blend and the heifers stop on a rearer nut.
AA heifers will nearly fatten on good silage alone

Going dead weight they seemed to like them young for Tesco and M & S job so a sniff of corn just bumped them on a bit. But now back to live weight they don't mind so you could probably get away with it.
Cattle bought approximately a year ago are leaving a profit, but unless feed drops considerably or the finished price increases by at least £100 there’s going be some tears

These finishers are going to have to start telling the processors that the price is going to have to go up if they want to continue getting a supply of beef. It certainly can’t be knocked off the store price because the breeders need everything they get.
