How can it be cheaper thought, lambs have been making £90 for what looked like small 25-30kg stores. How can they finish them, kill them and put them on a ship and be cheaper than ours?

what is the cost of the lamb on the boats. Lamb is expensive down under Plus shipping. Hopefully put a high base but probably take the froth off the market.

No idea but it does make you wonder what other sneaky tricks their up too.
Probably making a loss on them but if it drops uk lamb by £10-15/hd its worth it to them. Dirty trick though.

Hope they have showed their hand too early, cheaper supply now but Easter and Eid clash together in mid April I think,
for the long keepers 
the short /medium keepers had a nice December to be fair

They cant suddenly send youngsters to college, provide grants to increase production again,this is a skilled business with the knowledge passed down from generation to generation, there will be nobody left who knows how to farm.

I think you overestimate the scale of the supermarket lamb contracts. Tesco are by far the biggest retailer and they only have 200 producers contracted. Many of those haven’t been supplying them this year either, and are on suspension. They certainly aren’t in control.

They move a few tonnes at a time though.
The carbon footprint of moving stuff around the globe by ship is supposed to be very small indeed, per kg shipped.Flying it in would be different obviously, and has been done on occasion.
