Isn’t the food chain controlled by corporates anyway? Tesco manager controls the tattie price.

YawnYou had better keep hoping that Barnet formula isn't readjusted to make it fairer to English taxpayers. Wee Crankie might not have such largesse if it were reduced!
So as a Tenant Farmer if i retire with 100HA of entitlement. I then terminate my tenancy, which requires me to hand back the entitlements to the landlord. What evidence am i required to provide to you and how much will i be paid?
Yes, but as I said it is unprecedented. It is the first time in human history (in the free world) that the food chain has been an oligopoly. Market share wasn't a thing until the 1970's.
So if the tenancy is over, what does it matter to break the terms? As I understand it, to participate in the scheme the tenant's entitlements will have to go to Defra to be cancelled. If it is a condition of the tenancy agreement that the tenant has to hand them to the landlord at the end of the tenancy, then the tenant will not be able to participate in this scheme.
Press coverage of this will be 'slanted against ' the Ag industry . The last thing I want is the GP being drip fed more info that farmers are being given money for nothing which is the way it will come over..The scheme is a disgusting & immoral mess & i hope the press get hold of it soon and show it up for what it is @Janet Hughes Defra
I can see no logical reason for this ???
''being given money for nothing'' is exactly what this is all about---at a time when the taxpayer is being hit with increased NI etc etcPress coverage of this will be 'slanted against ' the Ag industry . I think the scheme is a joke and will probably only be taken up by those already intending to retire with no-one to take over the reigns . The big point was made very clear by @silverfox quite early on in these pages .....you don't have to sign up .....it purely voluntary !
We looked at it last night in detail,my OH and me , and decided it wasn't worth doing . In 5 yrs time we may,or may not, regret it but that's our choice .
I would have thought any 'Head of Ethics ' in the NFWho would be on overtime trying to sort out the 'ethics' within their own organisations .......after all why would they be concerned with anything in the farming industry.''being given money for nothing'' is exactly what this is all about---at a time when the taxpayer is being hit with increased NI etc etc
If the ag. industry/representatives had any moral compass at all they would be calling this out ----
Do the NFU have a ''Head of Ethics'' that could look at this ?
Yes but they sucknot necessarily , because henrys are way cheaper.
Where has 30% come from?Tax would be a big issue when thinking about cutting back ,30% is a lot that lose
20% sorryWhere has 30% come from?
Most farmers should be eligible for entrepreneurs relief therefore reducing this to 10%.20% sorry
Most farmers should be eligible for entrepreneurs relief therefore reducing this to 10%.
I would expect most or a lot of farmers would want to buy a small holding to retire to not give up completely , also some may have more than one farmMost farmers should be eligible for entrepreneurs relief therefore reducing this to 10%.
I don’t think the scheme is aimed at those with multiple farms or those staying in the industry.I would expect most or a lot of farmers would want to buy a small holding to retire to not give up completely , also some may have more than one farm
