Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

It's the same problem in other parts of the world where there are different players in the market. We need to keep pressure on all the processors but more importantly get our levy boards working for their money, standing up to the anti-meat climate wackos and creating real demand for our products. Meat prices climb on high demand.
I agree , but where do we start as individuals ? Stopping selling the man that controls and selling more live forcing them i to live ring would be the only thjng individual farmer can do ?

Being devil's advocate here but we sell both lwt and dwt and if the beast isnt right in the brackets for the buyers stood around the ring( 500/550 kg) in the market we use they are equally heavily discounted per kg,as one auctioneer used to champion if you wear size 10 wellies you don't buy size 12 if they are cheaper
You know where some of the ones sold through the ring end up though

Yes ,butchers just seem to want them little ones , nowt but good stores, alot would make as much if not more store and no levey.

Its a tough one. Live auctions are important and I'm a big supporter but theres a place for both to keep everyone on their toes. I keep trying to make suggestions to our levy board and their reps but rarely get much feedback ... tbh feels like they just agree and ignore most of the time but I'll keep at it! They are paid good money (levy and government funds) to market our product and we really need to get them working harder on our behalf. Excuses like 'we don't respond to social media negativity to avoid getting into arguments' arent good enough. The benefits of red meat stand up for themselves and our reps should be highlighting these benefits at every opportunity ... they cant argue with facts. Its hard work but needs to be done.

Correct.
Farmers are often their own worst enemy in this respect.
Something makes a good price, 'oh there must be a lot of luck back with that'
How are prices ever going to improve if the very people that supply the product think its too dear.
There’s plenty do it, say stock sold is too dear there’s even published statements saying stock is too dear for processors when it’s barely wiping its arse at this end

Just seen the picture on here It’s a butcher’s type beast in my eyes a good shaped one too with extreme depth for a limmy
I’m so pleased to see heavy cattle with good conformation being sold in numbers to confident repeat purchasers at these high prices
These prices far exceeding any deadweight meat thief it really shows up how much meat is currently and in the past has been stolen
It’s a big two fingers up to them and shows the true value of cattle
I’m all behind the vendor and the buyers and I hope more follow suit
This will push up weight limits and prices for the boring thief buying outfits
Well done to all involved
And let’s face it, it has been stolen and not thrown away.
