Yes the extention we put up was about 50 grand. We are about 2 yrs down the line so that's basically paid for itself .... without being unkind we are hoping for his sake and ours that he pops off before needing a care home !!

....I must admit to smiling to some if the things he says .......🙂🙂
OH is horrified !!!
It's awful to say but it's almost a relief when they do go for their own sake and for everyone who has to look after and worry about them (but you shouldn't say that last part out loud)
To see someone you knew so well when they were so independent and capable of everything deteriorate to the point of being as helpless as a baby but harder to look after is pretty soul destroying. Especially when you know that they themselves would hate to be in that position if they were of sound mind. But they have no f**king idea what's going on.

Problem is it’s maybe 2k a month to go in a home and they have to pay if they have over 20/25k in the bank
If they get below that the council will take the money off the estate/house at the end
Not much fun really when folks have saved up to end up there
Carers at home costing ÂŁ1500 a month
I’m just pleased cake and fert is so dear so I won’t have that problem
Cost us ÂŁ1200 a week for years .

We had that aswell till it got too much for mum, it was going to be 800 a week for a home, but he didn't last a month after he was taken into hospital, a sad end, that was in 2010.

should be like school at beginning of life , state looks after you from 80 on if required (happy to pay higher taxes if necessary ) , to much discrimination at the moment , private companies making a killing , all their savings up in smoke , yet the feckless are cared for right through life ,
