first 2 coming back for 2nd grazing, 25 units N after 1st round, N went on 7 days ago.
next, red clover ley, 40 units N, grazed till 3rd march, with sheep
next, cutting ley, slurry, and 40 units of N, grazed by sheep till 12 march, lot of clover in the bottom of the sward.
last one, should be grazing, but will now be cut, no slurry, no fert, sheep off mid feb, the chicory went a bit mental here, plenty clover though.
don't know about temp for clover, it hasn't stopped growing all winter, and the grass is getting its N from somewhere, because we haven't used very much.
Yea and mine looks like that but not supplying any nitrogen yet
Dig some up as I’ve taught you what to look for
Clover on them fields probably 10% or less

I was just going off what I've been told to do on here, I thought I should be grazing covers when they hit 2800-3200kgdm/ha?
Blame TFF !!!! no seriously in at 3000 out at 1500 if you can make them work adjust rotation length, supplement and stocking rates to growth rates.

Cows do transition to grass well in general, I think a high proportion of fresh cows getting a BIG scoop of cake will be diluting your fats too maybe?

he's producing the goods, we will have heavy 1st main cut, with 1/3 of usual fert
the day he doesn't, will be the day he goes, grass for us, is critical.
To be honest, this spring, l think we have some of the largest amounts of grass, l can remember, over the last 50 yrs.
Its the why, l haven't worked out. l would hate to think that l might have wasted several 100 tons of fert over that time, if it could have grown, without it, like this year.
There is a theory, from work done in Australia, that has deduced, that grass becomes reliant, on fert, to grow, and can be 'weaned' off it. Sounds daft, but you never know.

And you'd be putting oil in the drinking water and stood at the gate biting your nails!
Used to go down the field to get cows in and they be completely white with clover
Water tanks had a system with bloat ease pumped into them
Cows would still get blown but the walk back to the parlour would let them down
Biggest thing was keeping cows full and not letting them get anywhere near hungry

Old school told me bloat is worse when the wind's in the East.
Cold wind makes 'em hungrier.

that's the bit that hurts
but, one is never to old to learn, and, if if correct, chosen the perfect yr to occur.
our neighbour is organic, taken on some very hungry sand, his grass was very light green. That ground will eat fym.
