Trying to remove or at least slide back the grain pan floor beneath the concave. Undid the hooks at the front that pull it forward. Does the whole pan floor slide backwards out or is it just front sections? Obviously very tight as jammed with rust and debris. Removed too sieves to get access from back.
Actually trying to replace sealing strip between concave and stone trap and thought if slid pan floor back I’d get better access to bolt heads that hold the strip in place.

Ratchet strap through hole in middle fishtail of each side lashed to straw chopper and tensioned up a bit pulled them free.
That's what I do. But usually pull off a barn rsj or park a tractor behind and pull of the front weights.
Never used the straw chopper tho. Sometimes they can be well stuck in. Pull ours out every other year

Make sure it's clean and clear of crap when going back in. It ain't easy beating them in with a fencing stake from the rear!!

Can you not access through the grain tank, there's a section you can remove.

Yes a new machine to us. Only 24 years old. I’m checking it over and doing a few jobs on it but I’m quite pleased with it so far. Seems quite well thought out, robust and not too reliant on electronics. In reasonable order.
I’m keeping the 1085 in case we have teething troubles and because I’ll get nothing for it. It’s too wide to move without an escort as well. Of course it’s sulking now it’s seen the new arrival as the starter solenoid seems to have stuck or there’s a bad connection somewhere. Another job. We will hooefully start the Dominstor on OSR and the JD on winter barley. That way we don’t need to rave the bed extension on and off the Dominator, just set it up and leave it on for the OSR.
There is a problem with the spool valve that controls the cylinder varietor pulley on the JD. Spool valve is part of a bank of 8 and megabucks so decided to buy a hydraulic power pack to operate cylinder varietor independly. Doesn’t really need to move much so should be a cheap fix to keep the machine going this season.

Hope she goes well, plenty of experience and help on here should you need it!

Should feed better with extension? Really frustrating when it just flows straight over the back of the header..
Apparently the extension is a home made copy of a Polish made aftermarket extension. I am assured it works. :cautious:
I liked our old swather and draper. Did a good job but got too old and took up a vast amount of room. If it did rain considerably the swathes could go down and some years we nearly lost them to the worms. There was also no kill of perennial grasses that you get with the spray.
I have combined direct with the JD and 814 bed but I reckon I lost plenty off the front. Fed alright though.
The Dominator is hydrostatic with a feed reverser so shouldn't wear myself out going up and down the steps. The table auger has forks all the way along it which is new to me so should surely pull it under alright?
My plan is to combine slightly over moisture anyway as it's going to central store. I reckon you lose a lot less combining at about 10% as a rule. Couldn't really do that when we used our old drier as it meant it all had to be fed through at 3tph.
The best yield we ever had was combined with an MF525 direct with no bed extension. 36 cwt to the acre. Makes you wonder about extensions etc. And it was Regloned.

Anyway I am slowly progressing with replacing the rubber strip between concave and stonetrap. Not been easy to undo retaining bolts but they are out now. Just need to find a right angled drill to drill out the pop rivets. Would it even matter if this strip was holed? It would leak some grain back into the stone trap from the grain pan but not to external. Not really a disaster. Somebody had jammed the sleeve off their jacket into the gap.

If it's the rubber strip between back of stone trap and concave, can't see how any grain could get from grain pan as its surely underneath the concave. Maybe I've misunderstood the location of what you're replacing.

Best put header on, then disconnect the trunk then you can get right at it.
I drove the predecessor of the 98, a dom 85 from 1981 to 1994, now got a 208 which is basically the same

Stone trap is soon full of grain, no matter what.
