used to put an old cow chain on the persistent ones, with part hanging down, when they put their heads down, to go under, they achieve a better earth, and therefore a better shock, worked well. Bought a hfr 8 wks ago, she was a bugger, till she got a shock of the 'big' mains fencer, reading 9 on the tester, she has been in, ever since, funny that.

final pd session today, bulls been out 6 wks, wanted to calve 100 in 8 wks, achieved 97, very few aut calvers empty, jabbed the feb/march calvers 10, AI for a week, then bull back in, very pleased, even 3 aut no hopers +ve, bonus, with cows at high prices, all 3 giving 25+

Well, for the first time ever, PKE prices (and every other concentrate) have reached "uneconomical to feed" levels (in my opinion). Urea is too expensive to bother with (not that I ever used much anyway). Lets not mention fuel prices.

There's not going to be much milk in the vat this season.....mind you, hungry cows are profitable cows, it could possibly be my most profitable season yet?

Explain the hungry cows being profitable cows please. When mine are hungry, they just break the fence. 🤣

How's the grass? Wheat would be a more open crop to help the grass i would think?
Grass is coming away fine, aye am told the wheat will give the grass a better chance later on. Barley last year was tremendous crop and we’re grazing that block now but there were patches of grass under pressure when the crop came off.

I'm not sure I agree?
Even at £500/t if that produces 2000litres of milk at only 40ppl that's £800?
