My lad has the idea of buying some smart heifers out of the stores to run about to make cows that’s what a lot of the ones that sell breeding cattle do anyway

I’ve some close relatives that have had a pretty boring life for the last ten years or so due to health issues it’s nowt to look forward to I can tell you that no good at all

There’s a few herd dispersals coming up might try and buy a few cows from them hopefully
We’ve bought a lot of heifers and calves and bulling heifers the last two years and it’s got me thinking there will be a lot to go out all at once when the time comes so a few cows added now would do no harm. Save the matter of replacing loads at once. Cattle values are creeping up quietly they are slowly getting there

I’ve seen a lot worse, my shearing team did 740 1 day which was a mix of mules, TexelsX, odd young glamorgan etc, all tidy to shear. 3 days later they came back to do the broker welsh

Takes me back to yrs ago.
...in those days dad would buy barren or cull ewes in Hfd on a Wed ,brother and me would have to shear them and they would go off the Ross Market ( which back then was on a Fri ) .
He would make a bit on the wool and a bit on the ewes! ....
Used to dread Wed eves !
Hard to believe it now .....buying ewes just for the wool !!
