People have a short memory, a fine week and its called a drought!
1st week of july was wet every day but then sun comes out and i must admit you soon forget!
We never saw any rain then, it just went around us, we planted kale 4 weeks ago an it’s not germinated at all, not even had mist on it let alone a rain drop!! Started feeding the cows today an they’ve demolished the bales of hay I gave them this morning! The whole farm is brown/dead

No they will not be cancelling any markets next week!

Thou of course when the new laws come in ref temps and moving livestock there prob would not have been any markets in the south in the last 6 weeks if they were currently in force!

Here in Devon we had floods on xmas day 2021, since then we have had just two days of steady rain so it has nothing to do with just 1 fine week of weather but in fact the lack of rainfall the last 7 months which must be the lowest on record for hundreds of years in this part of the world!

As an aside i saw some 3rd cut silage on a dairy farm today, would be 12 acres of grass down and if they get 12 bales from the whole lot they will be very lucky, it was last cut 6 weeks ago!

Yesterdays lambs did acceptable considering the weather and lack of green feedstuffs recently. Like I said before, I get big bonuses on 2/3L’s.

Usually these extreme forecasts tail off the closer you get but this one has been rising, was hot enough here Tuesday passed and that was only mid twenties!

I did feel sorry for a lorry load of lambs i saw stuck in traffic on tuesday, i was boiling sat in the truck so they must have been bloody sweltering.
