Jordan Peterson on agiculture…

I wasn't aware that Attenborough has branched into the self-help industry. He seems rather too grounded for that.

When it comes to Peterson, it's his consistent presumptions about women that's the problem. If his e-finishing skool curriculum contains even a tiny amount of sexist or misogynist content within it ~ or the potential for any to be perceived from it ~ that's where the wrongness lies.
It's not presumptuous, it's what he's found in his job.

A bit like how I've found cows to be more aggressive at calving time than bulls, it's not because I dislike them, it's just what I've found in my job.

I can see where you are coming from, and if Peterson worked in an academic discipline involving close study of biologically driven behaviour within species other than humans, there would be nothing to talk about. But, he consistently presents women within a cultural mould that began to cease to be back in the late 19th to early 20th century in the UK.

Reading and listening to his views (that interview was in 2018, so I took notice of him then) leaves me wondering where he has been for most of his life, and why he is so uneasy with modern women who don't conform to his ideas of (for want of a better description, cos I don't have an ology) sexual dimorphism at cultural level. Instead of exploring modern culture with his male followers, he perpetuates dated stereotypes of women which are often sexist veering to the misogynistic. His intellect is of the ivory tower variety, and his well-dressed delivery is rather sage-like ~ which gives him an undeserved glamour that a significant number of his followers can't see through.

I have no clue about what he knows about farming. Does he have any lived experience of working with the soil, or with livestock?

You're being extremely vague.
Can you give me some examples of where you think he's incorrect?

I have yet to hear him play women down as a gender, I've only ever heard him suggest why women and men are mainly suited to different things due to how each are hardwired.
I am happy to accept that I have limitations in my capabilities due to my gender, I don't see why everyone cannot accept this

Explaining those differences isn't misogynistic.

Perhaps you haven't yet found his recommendations about "enforced monogamy"?

I've read some of these things edited out of context, just like how Cathy Newman lacked the capacity to deal with his points.
Just like we could go though anyone's life and quote select parts.

I'd be interested to hear what you'd say if you were to watch the videos of these conversations.

Are you by any chance employed by Channel 4 news? 😉

Ha ha! If only Newman had made good enough points about current events (gender pay gap, the #metoo situation, and much, much more), and had kept her cool, Peterson's outdated points of view about women would have been revealed. The interview didn't turn out that way, so the Peterson fan club gloated ~ and a portion of them felt entitled to use their hatred of women against Cathy Newman.
Yes, if only she had ears and not a great flapping gawp on her, trying to put words in his mouth, "it all would be much different"

While there is good and bad male politicians, given gender equality there must be also good and bad female politicians....🤔

Alas, I would have to turn them down 🙂 . I think that Cathy Newman's off day is now used as a squirrel to glamourise Peterson further in the eyes of his followers. There should be a new interview, imv. She didn't cause harm to women, btw. The way she was trolled brought attention to the harms permitted within social media, and also brought Peterson to the attention of more women than the few in academia who had been his colleagues or students. Peterson's manner is familiar to many women who have to work with chauvenists in any context. He did not come out of the interview well, himself. I'm slightly less than impressed by the reaction to Newman's appearance in the interview from Peterson fans in this thread.

Just to add: despite looking ever so hard for ages and ages, there's still nothing that shows that human brains are biologically male or female ~

I think it’s funny that you consider or compare Peterson to a chauvinist.

Newman tried primary school tactics at grammar school and embarrassed herself publicly.
You live by the sword you die by the sword, regardless of gender, so you're right she probably ly didn't harm any particular gender, just herself.
Penty of men have tried the likes and I'd be just as critical of them, so let's not make this about poor Cathy, anyone as incapable and bad mannered as her deserved to be exposed as poor at their job.

You've yet to explain specifically what points you disagree with Peterson on and what parts of what he says are untrue.
All I've read is vague notions.
