I have idea how I would go about fixing it
But I can’t say anything until I see photo

Changed your tune, coming from someone that can't upload pictures
I have asked several times for pictures of your work, and you say you cannot upload them

Wrong…..
I assume the guy with damaged tractor knows how to upload photos
You know more about him uploading pictures, maybe give it a go yourself, I am not wrong it's you
I was on about you

Not me with damaged top link brackets
If it was I would have figured out how to fix
Do you need to visit optician?
I can see perfectly well thanks, but now you bring it up, you maybe need a visit to them, not only to read the posts correctly, but also to read the instructions to upload your pictures of standing on your head welding upside down with a stick welder with dissimilar rods welding cast to mild steel , under water while gargling " when it's spring again, I'll bring again Tulips from Amsterdam "

@Pennine Ploughing
I am happy with my welding quality
I want to make trailer to mount very old and heavy sawbench on
I can’t decide whether to drive it off tractor pto or mount engine at front either way I will have to make part of chassis adjustable to tension belt
Another thing the flat belt drive pulley is worn which means I will have to make new pulley
Metal casting is something I want to have a go at
If everything goes to plan it will be at onslow next year because the bench was made at Shrewsbury
I doubt anyone on this site knows anything about casting
I fetched 200 kg of sand some time ago from Cheshire

I have no experience of casting, but I think your biggest problem will be getting it hot enough to melt big enough to do a single pour all at once for anyone the first time, the expense will be more than getting one cast, or off the shelf,

You say the old one is worn, can you please describe the pulley and the wear on it ?

The outside diameter of pulley is worn and thin which is caused by flat belt slipping
Also the blade was not sharpened properly over the years
This was done by my late father who insisted on sharpening
The bench was made by Atlas foundry in Shrewsbury which is finished
Although I need one pulley I intend making 2or 3 at same time as one book said on this subject it’s better to make more and find you don’t need them than make one and find it’s gone wrong which happens
Finding replacement will be difficult if not impossible
I don’t know about you or anyone else here but I like learning new skills

Remember a flat belt pulley is far from flat, it is domed, meaning its higher in middle than the sides, if lined up correctly, the belt should run on the high middle bit of the pulley, as the belt will always run the the high side of the pulley if out of line,

It would be far thinner at the sides than middle when new, have you any pictures of the said pulley ?

The pulley we use on the dexta pto is domed but not on the sawbench .. it’s flat
There are 2 pulleys side by side both are flat the drive pulley is fixed and the other is loose on the shaft there’s a frame which will pull the belt from the fixed pulley to the loose one in an emergency
The pulleys have to be flat
There are screw up grease cups for the shaft bearings which are Babbitt
There’s a local guy that does machining and he is excellent at his job
I am not sure but there will have to be flanges cast in the pulley to allow it to be secured in lathe
That’s about it for the time being

What like this

Yes…. But on my old bench there’s an outer support bearing
The belt joiner has to be undone to fit around pulley
It’s very well made
I have decided that the drive pulley will be wider than the 2pulleys on saw bench
Also there may need some concrete at front as counter balance
That’s about it… nearer time I will start new thread, but saying that I doubt anyone here has made any thing similar

Think your missing the point here, I may be well wrong, however a flat belt on a flat belt pulley has to be 100% lined up, that is impossible do do with moving from drive to idle pulley as it will be out of line, the 2 pulleys will be domed slightly, as the belt will run on the high spot. So I will say there not flat as you say.
If they were, the belt would rum continuously on the guides and rip it to bits, as for being thin, they would last a long time many years
